Milestones and Misconceptions

WordPress tells me that yesterday (8/16) is the five-year anniversary of my blog. It’s only actively been in this incarnation since around… January of 2012, but I have been writing here since 2009. WordPress is also telling me that I’m nearing my 500th post on this blog (that includes private posts). I’m thinking of some way to mark the passing of the blogiversary and the 500 posts, but I’m not sure how yet? This is part of my rather intense need to mark every milestone in some way–I can’t let birthdays, anniversaries, holidays pass without some fanfare. Being my friend or lover is dangerous business around your birthday! Ask Sir. =P

Power Play at the Ballet (For Sir)

“I’ve been thinking, maybe we should go see a show? Opera maybe… or is the ballet in town?”

She smiled, “The opera is featuring Don Giovanni from the Mozart cycle, but the ballet is in town… Swan Lake.”

“Tough choice,” he said, clucking his tongue. “Though I was always a fan of Swan Lake…”

Joy bubbled up inside of her at his words.

“Swan Lake is my favorite, dear… so unless you really want to see Don Gio…”

He shook his head.

“Swan Lake it is, we’ll catch the opera some other time.”

“Oh, get tickets soon, won’t you dear? They’ll go fast.”

“I’ll pick them up tomorrow during lunch,” he smiled and took another swig of his drink. Continue reading

The origin of the Triptych is religious in nature, and as I’ve likened my submission to a sort of spirituality, I do believe this fits.
